You might find this interesting. I don’t often refer to White Horse Inn, so this is not a general endorsement. I only point out this one short 30 minute audio....since I recall at various times past I’ve heard friends argue for the grace plus works view. Not sure it is this is conclusive, but at least it highlights the Pelagian heresy, and refers to it's more modern semi-Pelagic stepchild.

At the very least, it's perhaps a good review, has a few zingers in it, and shows how very difficult it is to have a true belief in the gospel or be a real Biblical believing Christian. In the world there are these and many other very appealing alternatives....all attractive from ones various perspective.

Paul writes:

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith

Plus, we can read about a very early attempt at self-help, or working our way to be like the gods, here......

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Btw....good words about the gospel can be found in John 6 and 1 Corinthians 15, I recommend reading them in the KJV.
