A Tangled Tale

I’d like to encourage you to consider becoming a patron supporting a new and creative form of Art. Our daughter Corrie is a professional animator and is developing the sub-specialty of Sand Animation.

She can describe it best at this note and link.

Dear Friends,
I’m working on a new film. It’s a beautiful film, made with sand animation. It tells a beautiful story too. I’d like you to see it, but it’s not finished yet. In fact, it won’t be finished without your help. So, I am launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise the money for post production.

What is Kickstarter? It’s a crowdfunding website. Crowdfunding means that instead of finding one person with very deep pockets and very long hands to fund an entire film, a crowd of people with normal sized-pockets can come together to support a project they care about.

You are my crowd! And in return for your support, I can say thank you by offering you rewards with real value - like DVDs and artwork from the film. So it’s a mutually beneficial relationship. I get to make my film, and you get to enjoy it, by being a part of the process and leaving with something tangible after it’s complete! And, just to get things rolling, I'm adding a special bonus reward for the first 25 backers, so don't wait!
Intrigued? I won’t make you read more. Instead you can watch a little video that tells you all about it.

Thanks!
Corrie

PS If you like the film enough to fund it, your own crowd might like it too. It’s not just for my crowd, it’s for the world. So please share this email, or the video so more people can enjoy the film!

The latest update is that the project is now funded at the minimum level so we can all look forward to seeing it in production.

Her earlier works were done under the umbrella of both Dartmouth College and the USC Film School, as such she relied heavily on grants and fellowships.

The Kickstarter program is a way to remove the “Starving Artist” syndrome, and creatively allow those who desire to participate in supporting Art to do so in a variety of small ways.

In some sense this reminds me of the way Art was supported throughout the centuries. To me Kickstarter sounds a bit too 21st Century, and is an outgrowth of the whole social media, Facebook, Twitter, iPhone world we have today. But the concept seems to be one that is working.

As artist’s over the years she is seeking likeminded friends to help support the development of this field. If you have any desire to help with this endeavor please consider joining with the many others who are helping to support this project. In any event keep posted for progress on the film I hope you look forward to getting a chance to see it when completed.
