My other sites are now on WordPress.

I've been working on duplicating this BlogSpot site on WordPress.
The URL is similar:

Rainbow Trout

Please check it out.. I will be posting updates to that site.
The editor and spell checking functions work better.

For now my old posts will remain here.

Test post using blogger again

I want to see if this works..

2Ti 3:15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Still fills in formatting I don't want.

Too many Posts....

As you might detect I have a passion for God's word and literally every chapter has some useful teaching worthy of comment. I'm going to try to slow the flow of posting for my own benefit since this is taking a lot of time. Maybe a good goal is one or two from a day's reading.

In the meantime here is today's list which you are free to follow or begin your own. My current hard copy KJV has many highlights in many colors and a few notes. Perhaps you have been marking up your own copies also.

Introducing - The Catch of the Week

I'm toying with the idea of posting a summary of significant articles that I've read over the past week. Over the course of my discernment readings I come across a number of articles that from time to time I pass out to a few friends. Perhaps it is easier to just catalogue them in one place and let those interested check my site weekly and look at the list and read those that seem of interest.

For now I will name this series of posts: The Catch of the Week

Since not only do I have a Justwalkingtogether theme, but I also sometimes refer to my blog as spawning Rainbow Trout, which is one of my favorites as a High Sierra Flyfisherman. These verses in John's Gospel are among my favorites:

Joh 21:6  And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
Joh 21:10  Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
Joh 21:11  Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

Over the years I have noticed that the level of information and the quality of writing in the discernment blogs has increased significantly. Many of these articles make significant points which the reader may have not considered.

I intend to try to limit the posts I gather to those that show light on some Biblical doctrinal or false doctrinal point, and as such some may have a negative spin. I ask the reader to use wise judgment as to the validity of what the writers write. The nature of deception is that is deceiving! Not only check if they have use valid logic and reasoning to present their points, but also that they are scripturally sound.

Act 17:11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Often a blogger will quote or link to another writer's material. It's not possible for me to review all of the blogger's and writer's material so my posting a link to them is not an endorsement of everything they might have or will say. If you find material that doesn't seem correct or is not Biblical let me know, and I will look deeper into it and throw those fish back...culling the catch, so to speak.

I will end this introductory post with these words from Matthew's Gospel. Maybe next time I read through this chapter I will post some detail comments on the text, for now just consider: Is the way/gate wider or narrow? What do false prophets actuall look like? What is fruit? Can Sound Biblical Doctrine be good fruit, or is it only good "works"? Are lemons good fruit?  Who are those who cry "Lord, Lord", and what aboout those who do "wonderful works"? Just what is doing and what does it cost? What kind of peacemaking will get the disciple persecuted? Who are those who are persecuted for "righteoousness' sake", or for "Jesus' sake"? What are the historical examples of persecution that come to mind? And finally where does Jesus get his authority and what does it imply?

Mat 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Mat 5:10  ♥️  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Mat 7:12  Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Mat 7:13  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Trees and Fruit

Mat 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Mat 7:21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Building on the Rock

Mat 7:24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Mat 7:26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Jesus' Authority

Mat 7:28  And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
Mat 7:29  For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Mat 4:8  Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdomsof the world, and the glory of them;
Mat 4:9  And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Mat 4:10  Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Or as Luke recounts it...

Luk 4:5  And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Luk 4:6  And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Luk 4:7  If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Luk 4:8  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

The Truth is:

Mat 28:18   ♥️  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

New Posting Idea

If you have been reading this blog for a while, you know I mostly post up just from my 10 Lists Readings. But over time it's grown so that I can hardly make it through the readings since there is so much to comment upon. I read the KJV which I turned to only a few years ago. And 90% of what I get out of the text comes just from reading and hearing it. When I become curious about a particular verse, phrase or word, I often turn to Old John Gill's commentary, or that of Matthew Henry.

In the next few days I will pass the 800th day of reading...though it has taken much longer that that to read these 8,000 characters.

I will experiment with a new style...where I just post the list of readings, and then maybe a verse or two that I wish to highlight. And let you the reader go to your own texts and read the full accounts.

Hopefully, this will help to pursue my goal of getting through the text and keeping my posts shorter.

Anyway I will try this for time.....it might look something like this. Testing it I am starting with the last 3 chapters, perhaps seeing a few verses will encourage you to read more. I don't plan to do this for every chapter but at least enough to give a taste of the text.

The Ten Lists

Today's Reading (day 798)
There are two sections to this chapter one very positive one quite negative.

1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.
12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
This is a chapter of the trials and events that Paul and Barnabus encountered throughout this region preaching the gospel...

7 And there they preached the gospel.
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Closing out 2016

This will be my final post for 2016.
Ringing in the new year in quiet with the family.

The year was my slowest, with less than 1,000 chapters completed in my Bible reading, but I was able to make almost 300 posts on my readings during the year.....about one for every three chapters I read. There could have been more. My readership has at last peaked to over 1,000 a month, the past few months. I will recommit for 2017, to try to shorten the texts. But so much in there.

Let's just keep walking this narrow path together for 2017.

Blog Update

I made some changes on the blog template, increasing the size of the font, to make it more readable and changing the Comments to make it more obvious that Comments are welcome.

Enjoy the changes.

Btw: Even had to do a little HTML coding to effect the Comments change. I'm no expert on that.

Mulligans and Golf...in your late 60's or 70's

At no risk of upsetting the handicap system, I'll offer some insight on the game format I've been working on.

FYI, on Wednesday our 3 some was joined by Rob, not pastor Rob, but Rob "Bomber".
Nice guy, but one hole, #16, he hit his drive to the 100 yard marker...I think that was just about 300 yards from the white tees. And that was his best of the day, though he was bombing it straight from the get go.

Do you ever wish to be able to play like the Bomber?, or even the average Joe-Pro with 250+ yard drives? Anyways, if you read the attached, I've figured out how to do it....you just have to be: 1) flexible enough to get out of your rut and play this format; 2) stretch your imagination to indulge in this fantasy; 3) and finally be willing to know how far you drive and hit your clubs along with having basic 3rd grade math skills.

Or you can pay thousands of dollars for professional golf lessons and physical training exercise.

Btw at our age...that last idea probably won't work, but I can guarantee my system does.

So come on out and join the fantasy some time

Golf...in your late 60's or 70's

I’ve been tinkering around with the Tee it Forward game for a while now.

There is actually nothing quite that short.

Recently I have be working on playing back at the White or even Blue tees, and playing a game where

I extend my drive but hitting a 2nd short from the fairway, but counting that shot as just an extension to my drive.

This allow for sort of a fantasy play where the short driver is able to emulate the longer drive player.

It actually speeds up play, since by hitting shorter drives off the back tees one can tee off early since the players ahead clear faster.

And even on the 2nd extension drive shot, play is faster since you are only hitting a short positioning shot, rather than trying to hit it as far as you can....of course for your approach shot you still need to wait for the green to clear.

An added benefit is extra practice using the positioning club.

I also found one does not hit as many wild shots doing this.

Initially, I tried it using a wedge to extend my drive.

Lately, I’ve been trying to play positional golf on the par 4’s and 5’s.

How does this work.

1)      Look at the score card hole yardage.

2)      Determine your course objective for the round on what average green in regulation       distance you are positioning towards.

3)      For my game I use 100 yards. I’d like to be shooting to the green from on average 100 yard.

4)      So for Boundary Oaks 1st hole  – 396yds, I subtract 100 yard, it’s a par 4 so I want to be hitting my 2nd shot from 296yds.

5)      So then I estimate what drive and extension shot do I need to reach the 296yds target. For me that is 180 yard drive and 115 yard 7 iron.

6)      You can adjust this as needed for uphill or into the wind conditions.

7)      So you hit those two first shots. Obviously, shots will not be perfect, so I may endup anywhere before or past the 100 yard marker.

8)      I then play into the green, chip, putt as normal from where the ball ends up after my positioning shot.

This works for me on all the holes except number 8 where the down hill slope will often leave the drive near the 100 yard marker.

But for the other 13 par 4-5 holes, I take the extra shot.

On par 3 holes you are free to play from the tees of your choice...I still use the gold tees based on my shorter hitting game. At Boundary Oaks, the 4 gold par 3’s total about 100 yards shorter than the whites, so to adjusted course length is about 6,270 yards.

The goal is to get as close to par as you can for the round……of course you still have really hit those 13 other shots, but I don’t count them, I just pretend I am a 250-260 yard driver.

Call it macho golf, positional golf or fantasy golf whatever you want.

I encourage you to try it.

Or just play your normal game with your normal handicap.

But I found this more fun.

And about the Mulligans....just call it hit to your happy, HTYH!

You can still do that but with this new format you might not need to.

A personal note....

I was sad to hear of Ray Yungen's passing, he said many useful words on subjects rarely mentioned.

This short article gives a taste of this along with my own personal experience.

Subject: From the Lighthouse Blog Biblical Christianity – The Biggest Obstacle to the New Age

This is from a writer and blogger I have followed to some extent, who just this week passed on to be with the Lord.

Perhaps we can all agree that the New Age stuff is bad news, some see it's base concept..see bold below, as reaching into many of the False Religions....take Mormonism as an example...they teach that you can become a god, and even get your own planet to rule and populate, yes it's true, or eastern religion and the mysteries of many gods or perfectionist. We generally, put New Age into a box, that limits it to just the bizarre crystal worshippers, but the underlying concepts often creep into all Religions. One concern is whether or not it is true that they have been merged into The Church. The book would be an interesting read, even if only to disagree. The closer we stick to Biblical Christianity the safer we are, but then the world has been swaying from God's Word from the beginning, i.e. The garden.

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Gen 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Gen 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Gen 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Or read about how Paul, Peter and John speak to the influx of false teaching into the church from the beginning.....or the waves of gnostic, Arianism, or pelagic teaching that comes forward, in the early centuries.

The challenge is to see what really counters Biblical Christianity through the ages, into the Reformation and Counter Reformation, up to all which is muddying the waters of the Church today.

As Eve saw....sometimes things look good, but then we shouldn't take it in...

Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

To be direct, the closest I ever came personally to the New Age stuff was when one of the VP's at Digital Equipment, was getting everyone on the West Coast involved and trained on Visualization Techniques, we even had extensive workshops in Finance of all places to learn to apply  these principles at work, I was do convinced of it's validity at the time, I even over viewed the basic concepts in a Sunday School Class I was involved with. Sigh......no one ever challenged me, and luckily, it was short lived. If you Google New Age Visualization or the more specific term The Law of Attraction, you will get too much to read about how this is in the church. All this was maybe 25 years ago, for me, and I've done my own departing from this and of a number of other things since then.

Biblical Christianity – The Biggest Obstacle to the New Age

By Ray Yungen

The New Age and Christianity definitely clash on the answer to the question of human imperfection. The former—the New Age—espouses the doctrine of becoming self-realized and united with the universe, which New Agers see as God but in reality is the realm of familiar spirits. On the other hand, the Gospel that Christians embrace offers salvation to humanity through grace (unmerited favor). Romans 3:24 boldly states: “. . . being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” In Romans 6:23, we read: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This gift is not earned or given as a reward for earnest or good intentions as Scripture clearly states:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

This Scripture that tackles the issue of pride sharply distinguishes all of man’s religions from Christianity. Religion persuades us that man is innately good and, therefore, can earn his way to heaven through human perfectibility or, better yet, through the realization of his own divinity. Christianity emphatically states the opposite view that man needs to humbly recognize his own sinfulness and fallibility, and consequently needs salvation through grace.

The Holy Spirit, through the Scripture, convicts the sinner of his sinful and lost condition and then presents to the despairing and repentant man God’s solution–salvation through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the Cross: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7) and then:

[I]f you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10)

Salvation is entirely a gift of grace bestowed on whoever believes in Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross as both God and man. Consequently, we must receive Him as Lord and Savior, understanding that it is by grace and grace alone that we are made acceptable in Christ before a holy God. Justification is God’s gift to the believer. This saving faith, also a demonstration of God’s grace, is more than an intellectual belief in Jesus’ death on the Cross but involves committing and entrusting one’s life to Jesus as both Lord and Savior–Christ’s going to the Cross was a finished work, and we as believers are now complete in Him. Nothing else can be added to this. How totally opposite from New Age thinking is God’s plan of salvation!

It all comes down to the preaching of the higher self versus the preaching of the Cross. New Agers may say God is synonymous with a person’s higher self, and the experience of God can only be discovered by way of meditation. However, the Christian admits his or her sinfulness before a Holy God and remembers he is saved only by the grace and mercy of God through the sacrificial shedding of Christ’s blood for his sins.

The message of Jesus Christ reaches out to the lost human race with the love of God who sacrificed His only begotten Son for the Swami Muktanandas of the world. The Bible teaches that man has an inherently rebellious and ungodly nature (which is evident), and his ways are naturally self-centered and evil in the sight of God. The Bible teaches that God is not indifferent to us. The sacrifice of Christ for the ungodly to reconcile us to God reveals the Lord’s love toward Man.

This explains why Christianity must be steadfast on these issues. If a belief system does not teach the preaching of the Cross, then it is not “the power of God” (I Corinthians 1:18). If other ways are correct, “then Christ died in vain,” rendering His shed blood unnecessary and immaterial (Galatians 2:21).

Because of this conflict, we can safely say that Christianity is the most formidable obstacle to the New Age, standing like a bulwark against this tidal wave of meditation teachers and practical mystics. But, incredibly, many of the most successful practical mystics are appearing from within Christianity itself. Ironically, instead of stemming the momentum of New Age spirituality, it is our own churches that may very well be the decisive catalysts to propel this movement into prominence. Certain spiritual practices have become entrenched in our churches that, like an iceberg, seem beautiful and impressive on the surface but in reality will cause severe damage and compromise of truth. Republishing article from Facebook Post

I have been encouraged by my colleagues to publish a scientific paper in Quantum Physics. Since most of you don't subscribe I will briefly outline the latest documented research I have on my Quantum Theory of Lost Objects.

Not long ago I raised to certain colleagues the situation described below. Soliciting their help in the research project.

Looks like mom and I are due to buy all new backpacking stuff for 2016.

I can't seem to find most of our primary equipment...including, MSR Water Gravity Filter, pocket rocket, cook pots, light weight tarp and our two Aircore mats...and whatever else maybe ....I've looked 3-4 times now for them.

Anyway last seen on our two day trip with Rainer....so there is a chance that there is a large box at Tahoe, but I have not seen it materialize yet since last summer, but maybe as we clear out summer stuff it will slow up....

Unless we loaned all this stuff to someone, I can't remember..

Anyway I think we have our packs and sleeping bags that is all.

And a bunch of old stuff that need to be recycled.

Any suggestions on the best lightweigh new replacements are welcomed, but keep your eyes out for a big box of stuff floating around in neither space.

After hours of searching and research, the matter was concluded.....

Mystery solved.

The Intergalactic Quantum Time Space Wormhole, reopened this morning......a large unlabeled pink storage box re-entered our universe, despite deep space time travel for over 10 months, our equipment appears to have hardly aged at all.

Thus reconfirming Einstein's theory of relativity.

By the way this may have something to do with mom's prayer study group being here yesterday, but we have no evidence that they prayed for these items, unless she did so in secret.

Rom 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Again thanks for your diligent searching, but as we know it is impossible to find lost things once they move into the future.

To initial publication I received this comment.

I look forward to seeing the peer-reviewed article in the next volume of “Quantum Physics”. This last piece of evidence should clinch your theory. Be sure to list be as contributor as the tenure committee likes cross-discipline collaboration.

To which I have appended this footnote.

Yes quite conclusive, I will need to formally write this up, this was a rare event as the box is quite large, normal occurrences are limited to small items, like headphones, keys , etc. and in fact we are still missing the canon battery charger, perhaps all that energy was need in the displacement of the box and it's return. The green SUV is missing also, but I think Leslie borrowed it!

I may try publishing on Facebook first as they have higher readership.

I cite certain references ..

Though the application of the theory to lost objects seems to be ignored.

Although unproven, I am looking into the hypothesis that the energy needed to initially open the wormhole is related to desire and need, with the  corollary that the more intense the need, the further an object can be transported into the future.

Also note that it is almost certain that objects return to the exact same location they were originally at, (this is why the obvious key question in finding lost items is: Where did you have it last?!). There seems to be no clear evidence of spacial displacement, unless associated with parallel moveable items like keys lost in a purse. This opens the whole idea of temporal movement of wormholes, but that is another project.
