Matthew 11
King James Version (KJV)

Jesus begins this chapter of strong teaching with this statement.

11 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

He goes on to confirm Who he is, who John was and what position the least of the believers in the kingdom of heaven have.

In verse 20 Matthew describes Jesus's condemnation of the cities that he preached in.

20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

He concludes by putting out open welcome to all who would come to him. Note verse 29 how he says "and learn of me".

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Leviticus 1
King James Version (KJV)

Chapter 1 gives instructions of three sacrifices: first of the cattle a male without blemish, next of the flocks, of sheep or goat the male without blemish. And finally an offering of fowls an offering of turtledoves or young pigeons.

2 Corinthians 12
King James Version (KJV)

I'm not sure our ministry leaders today would easily follow Paul's statement in verse 10

10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Verse 21 echoes that call for repentance that we read above in Matthew.

21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

2 Timothy 4
King James Version (KJV)

There is a sense of sadness in this chapter is Paul sees his ministry nearing an end.

The chapter opens with a harsh warning of difficult times.

4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Paul has had his share of these difficult times. But the Lord delivered him.

14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Job 30
King James Version (KJV)

I'm not sure if it's fair analogy, but in reading this chapter this time I was thinking of some of the emotions that Jesus must of felt as he was being led to the cross.

Psalm 128
King James Version (KJV)

128 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.
