2 Timothy 4

4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

2Ti 3:15    And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 3:16    All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 3:17    That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Luk 8:21    And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Luk 8:18    Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Questions

How does this play out today? We live in a word of many books, our pastors gather great crowds in mega churches, satellite churches, tele-evanglicism, massive conferences, at the highest world level the Pope's statements fill the news media. But are we teaching the Bible fully, or only the parts we like, have we decided much of it is untrue and should not be taugh, do we rely on man's thinking and judgments, do we just use "stories" that play on our feelings, are these our new scriptures, do we preach the true gospel, do we face afflictions, give reproof and correction, endure persecution?
