I had a chance to listen to another of the StrangeFire Conference sessions.
This one was of interest since the topic was Sola Scriptura, and focused on the Puritans.
The speaker Steve Lawson makes a passionate case for our firm reliance on the Bible alone as our authority and blends in two early counter reactions to this doctrine, the original Quaker movement, and the Puritan persecution that took place in England...this is the same persecution not by the Catholics but by the English Church that cost John Bunyan to be jailed 25% of his life.
Lawson does a great job linking, what the Bible actual says, introducing how the Westminster Confession of Faith is founded on this principle, challenge of the Quakers and the response of the great teacher of the Word - John Owen.
It's worth remembering that it was the persecution of the Puritans that directly lead to the movement of the Pilgrims to America.
