Positive teaching Rev 3:5

I listened to Pastor Dilday, teach in this verse.

Rev 3:5    He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

He made the point that even though the verse begins by saying "he that overcometh"... Suggesting that some will not perserver and one might think that some who are in the book of life may have their name blotted out....this really isn't possible, it's not consistent with other parts of a God"s word. Further it really doesn't say that...it says the exact opposite, read it again..I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angel.

This remained me of the Mark 13:22 teaching of Jesus...one might infer it's possible to ultimately deceive the elect....but again it really implies it's not possible.

Mar 13:21    And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

Mar 13:22    For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Mar 13:23    But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Jesus did teach and many years later John Bunyan and many others have taught that it is possible to be only a professor of faith and not actually be one of the elect.

See Matthew 13 which ends with....

Mat 13:23    But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Earlier he said..

Mat 13:9    Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Mat 13:10    And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Mat 13:11    He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
