Logic and the Wisdom of Bildad the Shuhite - Job 8

I use to only get the old Joke out of this passage....you know "Who was the shortest person in the bible?.....Bildad the Shoe Height!" Actually, I now know that award goes to David who once said...

"Psa 22:6  But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Anyway before someone accuses  me of taking us down a worm-hole, let's get back to the text.

I continue to study logic using Clark's text, in my 7:30am Sunday School.

This is increasingly bringing to mind just how often good or bad logical conclusions are found in day to day life, the news and more directly in the Bible.

Hopefully, you will see and agree that today's reading in Job 8, if full of logical conclusions...the issue is these do sound wise on the surface and have SOME truth behind them.....but they are invalid logically since they are used to IMPLY that they are valid in ALL cases including Job's.

By the end of the book we have Job and God getting the story straight. So as we, we read can look forward to that. 

Job 19:25  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Job 19:26  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Born Again to a Living Hope

1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1Pe 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

1Pe 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

For now we can just read Job and wonder at the logical falicies.

Job 8 King James Version (KJV)

8 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

3 Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

4 If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

5 If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

6 If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

8 For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

15 He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

16 He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

17 His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

18 If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
