Proverbs 19 - A repeated message....

I guess there is a need for an actual proverb.

This theme in today's reading is always worth listen to.

Exo 20:16  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

I don't know if we should consider Satan our neighbor, but he certainly was present from the beginning in the garden.

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

......

Gen 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

That was probably the first, but not the last lie.

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

But here we read:

Pro 19:22  The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

Pro 19:5  A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

Pro 19:9  A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Doesn't sound like the place to be caught in. I wonder if we can apply this to today's talk of Fake News?

But even that takes massive discernment.

Charles Spurgeon on Discernment

“Discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right.”

—C.H. Spurgeon
