Listening and Reading - The Bible with KJV audio

I've been doing this for over 3 years now, KJV for the last 2+ years.

I passed on this exhortation to a couple in our small group this week.

I was very excited by your interest in this last night.
I would encourage you to experiment with this for a month or two.

The idea of reading the Gospel of John (21 chapters) and then the Book of Acts (28 chapters) in the KJV would be more than enough of a test to see where this is useful in your own daily study.

If you have two copies of the KJV or use an online version, you could even read these together, while listening to Max in the audio.

If you miss a day, just pick it up again when you can. You could even listen to 2-3 chapters if you have the time, but a single chapter provides more than enough to think about. If you really want to go off the deep end next time ask me to explain my 10 chapters reading program.

My own reading today included John 15.

It's great in the audio.

There is much I could say about the KJV. Not the least of which is it is a good translation of the authentical Masoretic Hebrew text and the Received Greek text.

I would use the actual KJV not the NKJV.

If you commit to reading the book of John and find you don't clearly understand the text I would be surprised.

There are a handful of strange words used, but only a handful, these words have changed in meaning over the years, an example is "meat", which used to mean food eaten for sustenance , now it means beef or pork, etc. my copy of the KJV has reference notes that make this clear.

There are other words we often don't hear today, but their meaning is very rich and I find that just thinking about them draws my mind deeper into understanding the Bible.

There are many other pluses: many verses have echoes from old hymns and sayings, the KJV uses words like righteousness consistently through out the Bible so the great themes are reconfirmed in countless of passages. It is also metrical and was written to be read aloud. The wording sticks in the mind. I could go on.
