Ruth 2 - A very good immigration story...

There are many accounts of immigration in the Bible, but this one in today's reading has to be one of the best. And it leads directly to the family line into which Jesus would be born.

When

Naomi and Ruth Return

Rth 1:16  And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

We also see an excellent example of a man of good means who treats his workers well.

Rth 2:4  And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

Rth 2:12  The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

Rth 2:20  And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

There seems to be a common theme through out....which is repeated in our Catechism.

It's probably worth our time to repeatedly remember this teachings:

Q. 1. What is the chief end of man?

A. Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.

And these....

Q. 2. What rule hath God given to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him?
A. The Word of God, which is contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, is the only rule to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him.

Q. 3. What do the Scriptures principally teach?
A. The Scriptures principally teach what man is to believe concerning God, and what duty God requires of man.

Quick note my last chapter today Acts 10, has another example...this time an Italian, actually a Roman soldier living in Israel.

It's worth reading too....be sure to go to the end....it shows how God gets all his chosen.
None are left out.

Joh 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
